Ted Karl M.D., F.A.C.S.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Ted A. Karl has been in practice at Mid Island Eye Physicians and Surgeons since 1982, where he combines his vast experience with his dedicated skill to provide the high quality eye care to all of his patients. His hospital affiliations include Saint Joseph Hospital and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Syosset.

Dr. Karl graduated Cum Laude with his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he was also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, followed by residency training in Ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Laurence Rubin M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Laurence Rubin is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience, currently providing comprehensive eye care at Mid Island Eye Physicians and Surgeons, as well as serving as chief of the ophthalmology section of the department of surgery at Saint Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Rubin also holds hospital appointments at North Shore University Hospital.

Dr. Rubin received his medical degree from New York Medical College, and completed his internship training in Internal Medicine at the Nassau County Medical Center. Pursuing his interest in eye care, Dr. Rubin completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan.

Gregory L Cowan M.D.

Dr. Gregory L. Cowan is a highly skilled and experienced fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who has practiced at Mid Island Eye Physicians and Surgeons for over 17 years. Dr. Cowan is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and completed both parts of his examination with honors. He also previously served as an Associate Examiner for the Board.

While attending medical school at George Washington University Medical School, Dr. Cowan was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society during his junior year, and was also a recipient of the A. Horowitz Award for receiving the highest score on Part I of the National Board of Medical Examination.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Cowan completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Winthrop University Hospital and his residency training in Ophthalmology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. To further his training, Dr. Cowan also completed a fellowship in Glaucoma at Mount Sinai.

With specialized training in glaucoma, Dr. Cowan has performed thousands of laser procedures for the treatment of glaucoma and offers the SLT "cold laser" technology to glaucoma patients. He also offers a wide array of comprehensive diagnostic testing.

Jordan M. Garelick, M.D.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Jordan M. Garelick has been in practice with Mid Island Eye since 2004, specializing in cataract surgery. Dr. Garelick utilizes the latest techniques in cataract surgery and offers patients premium lens technology.

Dr. Garelick received his medical degree from the SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine, and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Garelick then completed his residency training in Ophthalmology through the New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan.

Lisa Paolini, M.D.

Dr. Lisa Paolini is a board-certified ophthalmologist. She received her Bachelor of Science from Adelphi University, attended medical school at SUNY-Health Science Center at Brooklyn, New York, and completed her Ophthalmology residency at Saint Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Dr. Paolini has completed fellowships in both retinal conditions and glaucoma. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Paolini has volunteered at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Saint Francis Hospital, Saint Luke's Parish, as well as at a nursing home.
